Who Can Apply

Not everyone is eligible to do B.Com. You need to clear certain eligibility criteria that you need to fit into. This is the following criteria:

  • You need to have passed 12th standard in the commerce stream
  • 12th standard graduates from other streams may also apply based on the discretion university and college.
  • Colleges have cut-off percentages. You need to have scored more or equal to the cut-off percentage. Only then can you get admission. Colleges keep reducing cut-off percentages till seats get full.
  • University can grant direct admission irrespective of the candidate’s percentage.

Admission Process

Candidates seeking admission to IGNOU for distance and online education can apply online on the official website. After the applications are submitted, the forms are scrutinised and admission is offered on first-come first serve basis. Check out a step-by-step IGNOU admission process 2023.

Step 1- IGNOU application process is completely online. Candidates willing to apply must visit the official website and fill out the form.

Step 2- Students who have applied for B.Ed, MBA, or PB BSc Nursing must appear for the required entrance and check if they havve qualified it. Followed by application, application fee payment, and entrance, students who have completed their registration can check their status by entering their registration number on the IGNOU admission status page. The university also notifies students about their admission confirmation or rejection through an email and a text message in the next two months.

Step 3- For other courses, IGNOU admission forms, submitted via the Online Admission System, are scrutinized and confirmed for admission subject to the fulfillment of eligibility criteria. These forms are processed region-wise on a first-come-first-serve basis. Therefore, the time required for the processing of forms for different regional centres may vary depending on the number of applicants from the respective region. However, the university claims that within two months, every student receives admission confirmation via email or on the student portal.

Step 4- Once the university communicates that the student is shortlisted, students are required to pay the course admission fee to confirm their seat at the university.

Candidates can complete their Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) in One Year through One sitting Degree.

After earning your BCom, you can choose from a variety of job profiles. You could, for instance, work as an insurance agent, financial manager, or sales associate. Additionally, you can work for the government or at a bank as a process analyst, relationship manager, etc.

For B.Com (Hons) good score will be 750+. But if you score 700+ then it is also considered as a good score

B.Com degrees often have strict course requirements, limiting students ability to take courses outside of their major. This lack of flexibility may not suit students who want to explore other interests or pursue a double major.
