Anna University is a government university located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It is recognized by the UGC as a “University with Potential for Excellence” (UPE) and accredited with an ‘A’ grade by the NAAC. As per the NIRF 2023 rankings, Anna University is the 18th best university to study in India. Anna University offers 29 UG, 90 PG, and Doctorate level courses under 8 faculties and over 30 departments on its campus. Additionally, it offers more than 100 Degree and Diploma courses through its 593 affiliated colleges that have over 7.2 lakh students enrolled.
Apart from full-time regular courses, Anna University offers distance learning courses through its Centre for Distance Education. Anna University is quite popular for its B.E/B.Tech, B.Arch, M.Tech, and MBA courses. However, the acceptance rate of Anna University is around 29% as only top-scoring candidates in entrance exams get admission here. Anna University accepts students on the basis of entrance exams such as TANCET, CEETA PG, TNEA, NATA, UGC NET, and CSIR NET.
There is a significant rise in Anna University placement statistics during the 2022 placements drive. The university witnessed an increase of 53.15% in the number of job offers made during the 2022 placement drive as compared to 2021. The university also recorded a rise of 16.66% in the average package and 18.33% in the number of visiting companies. The application process for Anna University PG courses is mentioned below:
Step 1- To apply for ME, M.Tech, M.Plan, M.Arch, MBA, and MCA programs, candidates must visit the official portal – tancet.annauniv.edu. Click on Registration and then log in using your email ID and password. Select the course under the dropdown menu of “Choice of Examination”
Step 2- Enter personal, education, and examination details. Upload photo & signature in the prescribed format. Verify all the details and Click to go to the payment screen.
Step 3- Make the payment and keep the printout of your application for any reference in the future.
Step 4- For admission to the M.Sc program, students can fill out the application form by visiting the official website of Anna University followed by submission of INR 700 (INR 350 for SC/ST/PH) as the application fee.

No, you should have completed a 10+2+3 year undergraduate degree program or 10+diploma+an undergraduate degree program to enable you to be eligible for the MBA course. In the case of MCA, in addition, you should have undergone Mathematics either in your diploma (+2 or degree course).
Candidates must pass a 10+2 level exam or equivalent with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks with PCM as a compulsory subject.
At the Anna University placement in 2022, the highest salary package offered to the students was Rs 36.50 LPA. The highest salary package previously was Rs 20.50 LPA for the Anna University placements in 2021 and Rs 39 LPA for the placements in 2020.
