Mizoram University came into existence in the year 2001 and has been accredited by NAAC with A grade. It has a vast area of about 978 acres approximately in the outer region of Aizawl City. The university was also ranked continuously in the rankings for the top 100 universities across India for the years 2016 to 2019. 33 different departments are functioning under the Mizoram University which offers a variety of courses such as UG, PG, M.Phil., and Ph.D. programs under 8 different schools of study. There are 35 colleges affiliated to Mizoram University in addition to a constituent college. Mizoram University is ranked ay 76th place in the category of universities for NIRF 2023.
