The Kurukshetra University was established in 1956 as a unitary residential University and its foundation stone was laid by late Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India. Located in the holy city of Kurukshetra, the land of the historical battle of 'Mahabharata' and the great message of Bhagwad Gita, its campus is situated on the western bank of Brahm Sarover (the holy tank) and extends over an area of over 400 acres. Starting with only the Department of Sanskrit, it has grown into a multi-faculty University as one of the premier centres for advanced study and research in the region.
Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra (KUK) is a State University established in the year 1956 and it is also one of the oldest universities in the nation and a unitary residential University located in the holy city of Kurukshetra. The university is accredited with NAAC grade A+.

Kurukshetra University offers 175 courses on campus in 47 departments/ institutes and through 282 affiliated colleges and institutes in seven districts of Haryana. KUK also offers education at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels via distance-learning mode through its Directorate of Distance Education, Kurukshetra University. Kurukshetra University admission process includes filling out the application form, online choice filling & locking, release of merit list, and fee payment. Given below is the step-wise admission process of Kurukshetra University.
Step 1- Candidates seeking admission to UG, PG, integrated and Ph.D. programmes must visit the official website of the university (kuk.ac.in) to fill out the form and pay the application fee to complete the process of application.
Step 2- Online choice filling & locking by the candidate can be done as per key dates mentioned in the admission schedule for Govt./ Govt. Aided/SFS Colleges affiliated to Kurukshetra University Kurukshetra. Students are allowed to fill in as much number of choices in order of preference as they wish to.
Step 3- Based on candidates marks in an entrance exam, KUK will release the merit list of selected students for the next round. Students who get their names on the admission list are then requested to visit the concerned college to report, upload documents.
Step 4- Pay the admission fee to confirm their seats.
